Sourced from the Lacey Vineyard, this Fiano from Juxtaposed wines was picked 10 days earlier than average due to a warm and dry season.
A small portion of the fruit saw wild yeast fermentation in seasoned French oak to build some interest. It shows canned apple, poached pears, custard apple, green mango and a fine thread of nuttiness. Admittedly, I dig the tonic texture. It comes across as a little reductive, masking the fruit. It's a touch salty too. Pineapple acidity whips in on close with a zip that cleanses the palate. I reckon it will look better with food.
