If you can have muscle cars, you can also have muscle Shiraz - well, I think so anyway. This is a big, bold, old school Barossa Shiraz rolling in.
Dense blackberries, an ocean of dark plums and dark cherries combine with cedar and caramel, the latter two delivering a Caramelo Koala-like presence. Aniseed, dried herbs, cardamom and fennel play neat supporting roles, and understandably so. But nothing is going to wrestle the limelight away from that powerful, rich fruit. Barbecue rub spices and peppery spices cling to a persistent finish. Despite its brawn, it glides about without obstruction. Tensing up on close, you'd be under no illusions that it is a wine that will comfortably cellar beyond a decade, and based on the form it showed after several days of tasting, it will do that with ease.
