A members only wine once upon a time, the Big Bully is now out there for all. Made with fruit from Wrattonbully, you can take a guess where its name comes from. Let this breathe and you're in for a treat.
Despite the bravado of its name, it's not the knockout blow it may suggest. A long decant proved to be the winning combo with this wine. Tense and sapping early, it found its feet and looked ace.
Said to be a limited release, I had bottle 5353... I find these 'Limited Release' claims curious but that's a story for another day.
Loaded with black fruits and cassis that swerve through the mouth coating every crevice, there is a cool mintiness and spearmint delight that I find gravitating. Dried herbs, Bay leaf and cola are happy to play a backward role with a hint of black tea. Drying and sapping, powdery tannins leave a long and dusty trail. It might be a Big Bully but it's no street tough you can't handle. Smart gear that will age beautifully.
