Brilliant. Classy. All that. A superb Hunter Valley Semillon from Briar Ridge.
The Black Cluster Vineyard is on Hermitage Road - the sweet spot for many Hunter Valley Semillons grown on ancient alluvial soils with a vine age of 30-50 years.
The refined beauty and fruit purity speak for themselves. Green apple crunch, generous lime juice plus a lemony tang, the presence of white flower aromas and a hint of passionfruit add prettiness. Focused acidity cuts a straight path with a whisper of minerality. But the texture and presence that lands and holds on the mid-palate are what I'm here for.
An excellent Semillon for now but this will age gracefully given the chance. Stand and applaud now.
