Three 2023 Semillon releases from Briar Ridge have come and they are three very different expressions. The racy Stockhausen to the purity of the Black Cluster and now the concentrated Dairy Hill. We're spoilt for choice here.
This Dairy Hill has some serious runs on the board and if you can snare a back vintage, you're in for something quite Semsational.
From the first sip, you can see it is already set up to drive down the lanolin road with some bottle age.
The depth and concentration here are respectable. Lemons and lemon curd surge with some yellow stonefruit playing a secondary role along with some fresh herby things. Ruby grapefruit acidity frames the palate. I love the Black Cluster for now but I reckon this Dairy Hill will kick into gear in a few years. Tuck it away and be rewarded for your patience.
