Barossa Boy Lifeblood Shiraz 2018

The Boy can do no wrong! I'm getting through a batch of samples from Barossa Boy and what a neat set of wines they are. There is a regal feel with this Lifeblood Shiraz in hand. Big and rich, every drop reaches out with comfort.

The bottle itself has the makings to double as a cricket bat or baseball bat in the backyard given its weight. Such bottles aren't the most environmentally friendly but they do give a sense of class.

I scanned the bottle from top to toe and there was no vintage listed although I am assured it is a 2018.

Dense fruit is the hero. A wine that sees oak for 22 months (70% French 30% American), Christmas cake spices and baking spices wrap themselves around the core of dark berry and plum fruit. Cloves add detail with milk and dark chocolate wrapping ribbons around the mouth. Soft touches of caramel add further appeal with a finish that reaches long creating a fabulous moreishness. A wine sure to pay dividends with age, you're on a winner here.
