An energetic number on opening, this Old Paddock & Old Hill needs a lie down. After three days of tasting, the momentum it built was superb. One for the long haul with a proven track record for aging, tuck this away and be rewarded deluxe.
Red fruits sit at the core with sour cherries, red apple and red plums beating the drum. Some blackcurrant leaf raises its hand late but the vibrant and dancy acidity just wants to get jiggy with it. On day two and three of tasting it shifted gear showing an earthy and savoury side to its personality. Dark fruit started to wriggle forward with red earth, dark chocolate dust, sauteed mushrooms, licks of cedar and even a suggestion of roasted nuts. In the end, be patient and hold to see it at its best. I dare say it will skip up a notch or two on the points scale in that time as well. Another class act from Mount Pleasant.
