This Mort's 1973 Single Vineyard from Kilikanoon will elevate Riesling lovers to their happy place. What a joyous and vibrant expression this is.
Tasted beside the Killerman's Run and the Mort's Block, this 1973 Single Vineyard showed its superiority with its plush mouthfeel and bevelled edges. Its siblings are quite taut and linear whereas this is refined with a detail and polish the other two can't match. Bath salts, Jasmine flowers, talc feels, river stones, fresh green apples, lime juice and pith - there is so much going on. Above all, detail and presence are the buzzwords for me and I want it all. A slipknot of tension is pulled late with a sherbety tang and a zippy acidity to keep everything in check. What a standout this is.
Drink now to embrace the freshness or hold beyond a decade.
