From little-known Sorell, 13km east of Tasmania's Coal River home of Richmond, comes this precise and delicious Riesling courtesy of Parish Vineyards.
The third wine tasted in the Parish Vineyards range, this joins a smart set of wines from Tasmanian sites including the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Gris.
Taut and focused, its steely and minerally drive can't be missed. Green apples, a laser like lime juice and grapefruit citrusy tang make this a pleasure to drink. Bone dry, pretty scents of sea spray rise up once the wine warms up a little in the glass. A fabulous drink now, but I'd be most curious to see it with some age under its belt.
