Find this! Of the three Oakridge Vineyard Series Chardonnays, this Henk was my preferred with the Hazeldine hot on its heels. The precision, balance and interest are supreme.
From a low-yielding vintage, the fruit was handpicked before being whole bunch pressed and sent to French oak puncheons for barrel fermentation with 10 months on lees.
It comes across more rounded yet it digs its heels in a little more. A fine sliver of pineapple and a sneaky lick of mango raise their hand early before a wave of white-fleshed stonefruit wash through supported by a lithe cashew nuttiness. A lemony drive sits at the core with a delicate creaminess highlighted by whipped vanilla custard. There is a tremendous energy about the grapefruit acidity. That tang is very sherbet-esque. Gee, I love this. Another precise Chardonnay from Oakridge.
