There is plenty to unpack with this Thea Hilltops Shiraz. Give it the time it deserves in a decanter and it will reward splendidly.
From the Freeman's Vineyard, the fruit was hand-picked and fermented with 25% whole bunches and it saw seasoned French oak for eight months.
Firm and tense on opening, mulberries, baked blueberries, sarsaparilla and pink peppercorns get you in the mood. Give it some air and it thrives. Initially a little warm but that blows off. Baked plums and blackberry pie are layered on thick. Black pepper and peppered steak muse with what seems a granite like minerality hugging the moreish length. An ideal partner for steak night, the depth and spice will work a treat. Well played and a great wine to partner its Chardonnay sibling for their debut release.
