Cool, calm and charming, this is an excellent Pinot Gris from Polperro.
I've been fortunate to have seen just about every release of this wine since the 2016 vintage, and this is the best since the superb 2018.
Layered with interest and detail, poached pear and cut pear work alongside golden apple and white fleshed stonefruit. The flicker of ginger spice is never far away with a fine minerality driving through the core. Wonderfully long and moreish, each sip encourages you to dive in further. Sheets of fine chalk and Mediterranean tonic feels leave a satisfying and engaging textural presence in its wake. This is a smart Pinot Gris hands down.
