Hayes Family Wines Koonunga Shiraz 2022

Sourced from dry-grown 1870s ancestor vines, this Hayes Family Wines Koonunga Shiraz is a wine with incredible drive and presence. Oh, I could get very comfortable with this, and maybe I did...

Note, the bottle pictured is indicative only. This sample is hot off the press and the official bottle pics have not been taken as yet. Substitute the blue band for a pink one that states Koonunga.

Exclusively available to select restaurants and at the cellar door, the old school approach has been maintained by keeping this in 25% new American for 16 months.

Baked raspberries and rhubarb scents are joyous and vivid with a delicious dense berry basket dive. The red fruit absolutely sings. It's hard not to love the shape and the spices that frame the fruit. Mulberries and blueberries build some fantastic momentum. Long, silky and incredibly moreish, super fine spices shimmer on a fabulously persistent finish. It's an excellent Shiraz that walks tall. Just beautiful.
