I haven't seen a Soumah Upper Ngumby Pinot since the 2018 release. Coming from a site that I feel produces better Chardonnay, this Pinot is a more than respectable wine delivering plenty of savoury pleasure.
The vineyard is located to the west of Yarra Glen. Showing darker fruit with more drive than its Hexham sibling, drunken cherries feature large. But that's when the savoury characters build momentum and take charge. Focused, it's laced with dried herbs and puffs of earthiness. A spicy persistence curls around the mouth and drives long gently suggesting you return for more. Well done.
