The Bone Line Iridium 2018

From a small winery in New Zealand's North Canterbury region, The Bone Line is dishing up some very smart wines. This blend is another example of that. Give it some air and it's a dangerous drink. Cool evenings with whispy pink clouds in the sky as the sun sets - the perfect match awaits.

A blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, there is a charm that I find gravitating. It bowls along with a street-wise swagger yet knows all the right things to say. The fruit is joyous and is led by dark berries and plums but it also gets in deep with a meaty and smokey edge and savoury drive. Dried herbs, aniseed, fine black pepper and a minerally ripple all work in unison folding over one another. A hint of chocolate (maybe better said as mocha), washes through late. Resistance is futile - it's a fabulous wine that grows on you.
