Yarra Yering No. 1 2015

I was fortunate enough to taste this exquisite release from 2015 when I dropped by the cellar door not too long ago. In a re-release of 2015, only 100 bottles were made available. In short, it's a stunning wine.

Still so fresh and delicate, the quality is outrageous. This will age comfortably for 20 years+ given how well it stood up.

I was gifted the remainder of the bottle to look at over a few days - a quick-fire tasting doesn't do any justice to wines of this calibre. After three and four days it was still beaming gloriously.

Initially, it was tight and shy but some time saw it show blackberries and blackberry paste, licorice and a touch of clove. Delicately spiced, this walks to its own beat and moves gracefully. Subtle dark chocolate and chocolate tart weave their way through. Some dried herb influences frame the edges, but the mouthfeel and that classy presence cannot be understated. The persistent length is lacy and seductive - it's a class act all the way.

Drink to 20 years+
