As Jason Schwarz says, "Grenache is a variety that works so well in the dry, arid climate of the Barossa. Its biggest point of difference is how it is influenced by the soils." This Grower Grenache is definitely influenced by the soils given it is a patchwork of parcels from across the valley. A glass full of fun, get me a large pour, please.
From the clay soils of Bethany, the sand of Vine Vale and the red earth of Stockwell (55/30/15), this is an energetic and engaging wine. Wonderfully fragrant, petals, red cherries and blueberry pie scents cascade from the glass. Loaded with juicy red fruits and berries, a flash of cola and a puff of earth add further brush strokes of interest. An intricate web of spices is woven throughout with a little slippery tannin feel courtesy of the clay. Yep, this is great. Fill me up!
Drink to five years.
