Golden Grove Estate Shiraz 2021

Cool climate Shiraz smashing it deluxe. Ray Costanzo is in a purple patch at the moment. His wines are surging and then some. This Shiraz nails it and speaks of the region. For $35, you are drinking very well.

Black pepper, granite minerality and a river of purple and blue fruit are the highlights of this fabulous medium-bodied wine. Burnt ends, some meatiness plus dried herbs fuse together delivering a wine of interest that slides through with ease. It builds fabulous momentum the longer it sits in the glass with a little mocha adding detail late in the piece. Persistent, fine spices curl around the mouth and hang long. Wonderfully delicious, it calls for one more sip. And another... With a proven record to age well, drink now or hold.

For the naysayers, yes it's from Queensland, but yes, it's from 850 metres above and along with the Golden Grove Estate Vermentino, perhaps it's time you slammed down the barrier and checked out these uber impressive wines.
