Keeda Zilm says that every Clare Valley winery should produce a Shiraz Malbec blend. Coming from someone with vast experience in the region, those are words worth noting. An impressive red, it joins an array of whites under the Miss Zilm label.
This debut release reaches for the heartstrings with those pretty violet aromas screaming for your attention. Blackberries and some sweet spices join a chorus of prettiness. Although the Malbec makes up only 15%, it really makes its presence felt. Black plums, blackberry jubes and even a hint of rhubarb are joined by licorice bullets. Waltzing through the mouth, it tenses up on close rolling out to a drying, powdery finish that whispers for your return. Fair enough, it's hard to resist. A smart wine hands down and good drinking for the money.
