It's great to see two Hilltops Shiraz from the same winemaker showcasing the vineyards he gets access to. This No.2 Shiraz is clearly much more aromatic than its No.1 sibling. The presence of this wine appeals to me more than the No.1 too. It's great gear for $35.
Opening with black cherry, cola, dried red flowers, licorice and black earth, I did love the drive of this wine. Add those pretty aromas and you're in for a treat. Fruit bun spices add further complexity with cinnamon prominent as it taps along. Long and persistent, that flow of concentrated, generous fruit is what keeps me coming back time and again. A day on and it steps up another gear. A really smart red wine.
