Parker Coonawarra Estate Kidman Block Shiraz 2021

A Shiraz with an appetite to please, the wheels are turning for some longevity. Always a great site and one that often flies under the radar, the Kidman Block is flourishing in the hands of Parker Coonawarra. Smart Shiraz this.

Back in the day, the Kidman family kept some of their fruit for their own label but it is now exclusively sold to Parker. Parker has scored deluxe given the quality I have seen in their Kidman label in recent years.

Spending 16 months in French oak, 30% of which was new, the scent and presence of cedar is strong but it meshes with the fruit the longer it sits. A wine that is right in the frame for aging, its dark fruit, soft spices and the shimmer of savoury delight whisper for your attention. I tasted this over several days and it softened beautifully. Licorice and blackberries build with time in the glass delivering silky feels. All up, it's a really clever wine and one that I'd happily recommend.
