de Iuliis Estate Shiraz 2020

Full disclosure on this one... I spent some time in the Hunter Valley during the 2020 vintage and I had my mitts in this wine. Daily checks, punch downs, I even shovelled it out (in near record time I'm led to believe). For $25, year after year this is a great drink. Some creative googling will land you a $20 bargain - what a steal!

Don't let all the doom and gloom written in some circles about the 2020 Hunter vintage chase you away. The fruit for this wine comes from Lovedale, roughly ten kilometres as the crow flies from the Broken back range where much of the smoke just sat. One thing I know is that this wine (as with all the other de Iuliis wines) has been tested and tested for taint and it's come up trumps each time.

Medium-bodied, dark fruits and cured meats take the stage. Soft spices muse as this unfurls and pushes to every extremity of the mouth. Long and seemingly never-ending, it's a great wine for the money. A side of Samboy Barbecue chips would be a handy partner.
