Thomas Wines Kiss Shiraz 2021

Need a quality and contemporary take on Hunter Valley Shiraz? Pucker up to this Thomas Wines Kiss Shiraz 2021. Stay a while and be welcomed to the pleasure dome.

These new release 2021 Shiraz from Thomas Wines are ace. You buy the Sweetwater and Synergy for now to enjoy but you settle in with the Kiss and Elenay

Tight, some serious poise and swagger are evident yet there is a cheeky grin in the background. Dark fruits and earthiness are the cornerstones of the Kiss Shiraz and this 2021 is no different.

Dark fruits possess some density, it's firm early to show who is boss but don't let that sway you. This is a long-term proposition rest assured.

Layered with detail, tar and licorice roll through with some oak raising its hand. Fine fruit bun spices are compelling and moreish. Dark chocolate and some savoury herbs happily play secondary roles, but you need to be patient before they pounce on their moment to shine. And they will. At a tasting of some of the Hunter's finest last year showcasing the vintages of 2009 and 2019, the Kiss was one of the standouts among some more celebrated and fancied Shiraz wines. Dare I say, the Kiss was below half the price of some and this modern style from Andrew Thomas certainly stood up to the more fancied players.

Made to age, this will repay the faith - I have witnessed that time and again.
