I had a quick look at this Tripelpunkt from Chaffey Bros on a recent trip to Artisans of Barossa. It was my first taste of this wine and I must say I was quite impressed.
Three blocks off a single vineyard contribute to this wine, hence the 'tripel'. What struck me were the gorgeous aromas and the sizzling acidity.
The fruit is whole bunch pressed and sits on skins for 18 hours. Pretty scents of white field flowers, Jasmine flowers and bath powder spill from the glass. Touches of green apple and some lemon juice move about freely. There is certainly a precision about the mouthfeel and the fine texture is a result of the time on skins. A minerally drive is partnered by a fine talc and powdery finish - simply delicious. A bottle wouldn't last long under a blue sky and some fresh seafood.
