Eden Valley Pinot Noir is a rare thing. The fruit for this Max & Me release was planted in the early 80s on an east-facing site to a mix of clones.
The hero from the outset is the delicate red cherry fruit. Some depth through the mid-palate is highlighted by black cherries but the gentle touch and even-handedness is what stands out the most. Softly spiced throughout as the red cherries continue to coil around the mouth, winemaker Phil Lehmann said he was deliberate in not overworking the fruit for this wine and it's telling. A red apple crunch has the last word on a most enjoyable wine.
