Handled similarly to Chardonnay, this Pizzini Attendo Pinot Grigio was whole bunch pressed with a portion going to seasoned French oak (50%). A considered take on the variety, this is a thinker's style of wine.
From the outset, it feels tightly wound. Scents of lemon rind, custard apple and white field flowers are uplifting but the tension in the mouth may catch a few off guard - this is certainly not a vibrant style Pinot Grigio given its handling. Green apples, underripe pear and a fine textural presence in the form of arrowroot biscuits are the main players. A little saline perhaps, tight, sapping acidity draws moisture from the mouth. It needs food beside it to elevate its strengths. In all, for what it is, it's very good but may not be everyone's preferred style.
