Wines from Heathcote don't come across the tasting bench all that much. Courtesy of St Anne's Vineyard, it's great to take a look at this Grenache Shiraz off that red Cambrian soil that the region is known for.
The signposts say this is ripe (15% alc) but it holds its form. There is a bright red fruit presence that is framed by baking spices and that unmissable red earthiness. Raspberries, raspberry coulis, blueberries and a flash of chocolate, some mouth warmth builds its case late. It's a very tidy wine and one that would sit comfortably beside a range of casual meals or that weekend camping out by the fire.
Drink to five years.
