This Tuerong is probably the most generous of the Montalto Single Vineyard Pinots. The Merricks is all things savoury, North One is pretty and this is muscular and measured not to mention that there are some Central Otago vibes going on here.
Cold soaked for 3-7 days before wild fermentation. 42% underwent carbonic maceration for two weeks then pressed to French oak (32% new) where it spent eleven months.
Delicately spiced, it's earthy with dried leaves and twiggy things. Black tea, sits underneath blackberries, blackcurrants, mulberries and dense plums. Time in the glass sees some strawberry and red berry fruits rise up. It's long, persistent and moreish. I could get awfully comfortable here. Excellent stuff.
