Once known as the "Red Hill" in the Single Vineyard range, the Montalto North One Pinot Noir vines sit beside The Eleven Chardonnay block. A proven performer in the past, this 2023 has torched the previous release. Absolutely brilliant, this is something to behold.
What a treat this was over a few days as it unfurled beautifully. A curious scent of cut parsley landed on opening but blew off just as quickly. Red cherries and strawberries spring into action with some dark plums and blackcurrants slowly building form. Truffles, undergrowth, sour red cherries and crunchy red apples, there is so much to unpack and the spellbinding aromas are hedonistic. Succulent and silky, there is a distinct umami characteristic. Fine spices coat the mouth with absolute ease yet there is some tension building a respectable frame. Three days on and it's absolutely humming and clearly demonstrating its ability to age. Treat yourself - you won't be disappointed.
