Is anyone up for a glass of Barossa Berocca? Those in the know would be aware I refer to Sparkling Shiraz and this release from Tenafeate Creek is Christmas in a glass.
And although I have said it many times previously, Sparkling Shiraz shouldn't be pigeonholed to be that once-a-year drink. Such a versatile wine when done well, spring time sunsets have a neat partner.
There is no denying it's Christmas credentials though. Think Christmas cake and Christmas pudding, layers of brown spices unfurl highlighted by star anise, cinnamon and cloves. Dark cherries dipped in dark chocolate and baked blueberries aren't far from the action. It's got a great mouthfeel and it leaves a silty finish in its wake. Give it a chill and pour it for those who laugh out loud. Great stuff.
Drink to five years.
