Montalto Tuerong Chardonnay 2023

This is one of those, "Where have you been all my life," moments. An epic single vineyard release of the Tuerong Chardonnay from Montalto awaits.

Whole bunch pressed to French oak (27.8% new to be exact), it went through wild yeast fermentation and 100% MLF and spent eleven months in barrel.

The Tuerong site is elite, despite the efforts of others in the range, this wine always seems to find its way on top for me.

Hard to put down, like all Montalto wines, it has been built with a vast array of interest under the hood. Flint and struck match hit the mark early with lemon juice and generous grapefruit. The citrusy tang it brings is something else. A hint of butterscotch, grilled cashews, vanilla slice and a deft creaminess tucks in behind with a minerally ripple sitting at the core. And that length!! Such a delight to drink, I made sure I saw this bottle out over a few days. Just brilliant!

Drink to eight years.
