A Cabernet and Sangiovese blend made to emulate the Super Tuscans, this Glen Garvald release by Levantine Hill initially came across a little disjointed with the Cabernet and Sangiovese running almost parallel to one another. But a day on and there is a seismic shift as they both fuse together.
Tight, the black fruit of the Cabernet muscles its way forward with the red fruit of the Sangiovese tailing off a long finish etched with fine spices. Time elevates the savoury presence with dried leaves, twigs and even some orange peel. The Sangiovese brings some crunch on close. Tidy stuff but give it a decant.
