From the clay soils of the Barossa's Bethany parish comes this intriguing and curious Schwarz Meta Grenache. Throwing up a neat tussle between savoury and fruit, the 60% whole bunches used certainly play their part. Most importantly, this is delicious deluxe.
A terrific expression of the variety, it is not fined nor filtered. It slides through with ease, but it's the vivid and energic aromas that harpoon from the glass that get my attention. Those violets and purple flowers shift to a flavour profile detailed with pleasure. Think blueberries, drunken cherries, grape bubblegum, mulberry compote and cola. An earthy and savoury presence from the whole bunches is partnered by twiggy and dried leaf things. Dry to finish, handfuls of fine spices are scattered about reaching long leaving black tea tannins in their wake. One glass wouldn't stand a chance. Big love.
