Not common bedfellows, this Brand & Sons Shiraz Malbec tosses up another great wine in the Coonawarra Untold range. Consistency is a hallmark of this label and this release keeps the tempo.
Named after a band that played Friday nights at the Coonawarra Club in the 1960s, the Night Owls were well known for their jazzy vibes.
An inviting opening offers blackcurrants and blackberries that are flanked by mint and dark cherries. The fruit seeks all the limelight but that mint just does enough to shoulder its way forward to ensure its not forgotten. Seeing 25% new French oak, a good dose of spices ticks away leading to a long and moreish finish. Cool nights, steak on the coals, fire pit chats and all that, you are right at home here. Great stuff.
