Such an aromatic and attractive wine, its beauty explodes from the glass. Fresh with some textural interest - go here.
Established 26 years ago, First Ridge Wines has an excellent cellar door in the Mudgee region. Contemporary and constructed from shipping containers, it is perched atop the hill overlooking the vineards - it's a must visit. Priding themselves on Mediterranean varieties, their fruit is grown 600 metres above.
A step up from the 2022 release, there is a lot more going on here. White fleshed stonefruit, canned pear juice, cut melon and a lemony drive lead the way. White pepper and cinnamon like spices frame the edges and a soft veil of creaminess with a gravitating textural drive add detail. A lemony tang and fine spices cling to a elongated finish. An absolutely beautiful drink, Cacio e Pepe or fresh Moreton Bay bugs will do the trick just fine.
Drink to three years.
