From the Wilyabrub sub-region of Margaret River, it is the dress circle of the district. This Cabernet underwent wild yeast fermentation and saw French oak for 16 months (45% new).
Attractive scents from the outset have me sitting bolt upright in attention. Dried purple flowers, dried thyme and sage plus a bounty of berry fruit do all the talking. Blackcurrants and dark berry compote go about their work filling the mouth with dark chocolate riding quietly in the background. The oak has been handled beautifully and demonstrates the sophistication and quality of the winemaking. Some black tea leaf feels, puffs of earthiness and a lingering powdery tannin continue to add veneers of interest with the latter demonstrating a long future ahead. Soft spices tease and tingle on a classy finish. It's an excellent age-worthy Cabernet.
