This Montalto Main Ridge 2022 is Pinot glory. Oh yeah! Can we leave the review at that?
From Montalto's most elevated and coolest vineyard that was planted in 1990, winemaker Simon Black says, "It produces wines that are fragile and delicate with wonderful purity and expressive aromatics."
The shape and structure of the wine is superb. More on the red cherry spectrum, it shows plenty of earthy and undergrowth things. There was even a hint of pine needle. Sour cherries, blood orange and a suggestion of ruby grapefruit fold into one another with dried leaves and autumnal things adding to that fabulous savoury appeal. Long and silky, fine spices curl around the mouth on close. It's all class - just wow.
Drink to eight years.
