Bloc Wines The Sich Shiraz 2023

Four mates have banded together to make some wine and the result is Bloc Wines from the Barossa Valley. A big framed wine with a fair chunk of oak, if you like them old school, head on over this way.

The oak is dominant early thanks to 18 months in French oak but it settles over a couple of days of tasting. I get a sense that this is made for later and not now given its muscular style. The fruit is ripe and shows Christmas cake, dense plums, dried currants, mocha, licorice and a little Caramello Koala. Five spice and black pepper curls around the mouth leading to a long finish which sees the plums swing back into the frame. Give this a good decant and you'll be in for a pleasant wine ideal for those chilly nights.
