From vines planted in 1955 comes this savoury Grenache from Jericho Wines. A wine for serious contemplation, find a spot beside your love or a fire pit (or both) and you're set.
Made with 25% whole bunches and wild yeast fermented, it saw nine months in seasoned French oak. The back label says herbal tea and that descriptor absolutely nails it as it is the first to reach forward and make itself known. Handfuls of plums, blackberries and mulberries drive the fruit profile before cola, orange peel, puffs of earth, dried thyme and flashes of char fold into one another. Baking spices reach long and have a fair say in what goes on with that savoury delight driving home the deal. A wine that is easy to gravitate to, this will age well over the medium term.
