Made for the long term as these Huntington Estate reds often are, there is some more energy with this 2021 compared to the 2019. This edition of the Special Reserve Shiraz is really well done.
There are more red plums and spice present than what I saw in the 2019. A composed wine, the acid has a little zip and points to long aging. Sitting the two side by side demonstrated that this 2021 was in a much better place.
Red fruits, dark cherries, Satsuma plums and some blackberries join forces to build a most pleasing momentum. Dark chocolate, cedar and soft spices roll through with a blanket of earthy and silty tannins on close. Given the choice, I'd run to this 2021 for now or later.
