What a big unit this is from Ben Murray Wines. This Anima Grenache comes in a hefty bottle, wax cap and some serious dumbbell appeal when I try to pour a glass.
Sourced from 60 year old dry grown vines in the Barossa's south, there is some measured density through the mouth but it's neatly shaped with silky feels. Plums, dark cherries, dried raspberries, sultana, fish sauce, oyster sauce, five spice and fruit bun spices peel back the interest with ease. It feels cool to taste but then the spices gather some momentum and a little warmth builds. Orange peel slides in late to add just another nibble of detail leaving a fine trail of silty tannins.
Kick back by the fire pit or sip slow while binging on a streamed series, it's a wine ready to relax with and ponder.
