It's a wine that certainly took full advantage of three days of tasting. Dark plums, blackberries, cut green herbs and dried herbs along with a mouth-sapping dryness made an early statement. Those puckering tannins certainly give an insight into its ageing potential. But given the opportunity to relax, it dialled things up and presented with much more composure. The green edge had melted away and the fruit was more elegant. Mint pattie and karob were more prominent with the finish more refined. That persistent length brings with it a wry smile of success. Give it a good decant to drink now or cellar for eight years+ with confidence.
