From the Sandy Corner Block of the Wait Vineyard, the 55 year old vines stretch their feet into the soils of the ancient Maslin Sands.
Dark plums and a basket of red and blue fruit greet you alongside a fistful of mulberries. There is a ribbon of caramel that is consistent with the Old Vine Grenache 2023 - both wines come off the Wait Vineyard. Let it breathe and it opens its arms with a welcoming embrace. A touch of minerality peers through, as do some iron filing notes. Fruit bun and Christmas cake spices keep a neat tempo with dusty and fine tannins having the last word. Sunday roasts and char grills are right in its line of sight. An excellent drink for $33.
