From one of the highest points in Blewitt Springs, the Wait Vineyard sits at 210 metres above. This Grenache is the perfect souvla wine. Just sit back, sip slow and watch that meat spin over the coals. Yes!
Winemaker Wes Pearson notes that the fruit for this vintage came into the winery with little colour. He also adds that most Grenache fans care little for colour, and I reckon he is right.
Dried red currants, cherries, raspberry rope and a hint of licorice muse setting the tone for an inviting wine. Layers of detail are a feature of these Juxtaposed wines, and you won't be disappointed here. Orange peel, apricot kernel and perhaps a sleight of hand from tea tree for good measure. The savoury nuances continue with puffs of dirt road and twiggy things. Bone dry, fine tannins parade through the lengthy finish. Silky, I adore the way those fine spices curl around the mouth and urge you to return for another dose. Great stuff.
