Expressive and alluring, this Waipara Pinot from a small producer Georges Road oozes charisma and class in plentiful doses.
Lying in the shadows of the Three Deans range, Waipara is such an untapped region and it doesn't get the attention of its more renowned siblings.
This Pinot is small batch produced, wild fermented and sees eleven months in French oak.
Gorgeous aromas of red petals with even suggestions of violets lure you closer. Char and charcoal aromas rub shoulders with dark cherries and red plums. Dried herbs and gamey characters drive the savoury profile. A flash of raspberry and strawberry makes a play before super fine spices chime in and plant themselves on a long and moreish finish. Those glorious tannins speak of class and the country. Fine spices shimmer and keep that interest factor flowing. A fabulous wine. Give me more!
