One of the very best red wines to have come across the tasting bench this year, this is all about clever blending, great fruit and engaging aromas. Made from the top 1% of fruit produced, quite simply, it's an absolutely superb blend. Stand and applaud.
Coming from the best barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot and seeing 24 months in French oak, give it a decant and embrace every drop.
Dry and puckering, gorgeous scents of violets add a stunning pretty factor. Initially, there is more fruit presence than savoury and I don't mind that. Watch it evolve in the glass - it opens up beautifully highlighted by blackberries and blackcurrants. Keep this. Hold it dear. It will reward in years to come. A little tight now, that shy guy in the corner, but gee it evolved over a few days of tasting with mint, chocolate, aniseed, cigar box and cedar shifting gear. Varietal traits show some personality, but that length! The weight is striking as it rolls about effortlessly. Dangerously smooth, it has a gravitating pull. Well played - take a bow.
