A new label in the Wickhams Road range, I was lucky enough to have a quick look at this Riesling with Franco D'Anna at the winery last week. From the Yea Valley, this is a fab wine. Throw it in the ice bucket and get ready to summer.
Hot off the press, pardon the bottle pic as it is yet to be uploaded on the website, but you get the idea.
I saw two Rieslings from the same Yea vineyard on the same day last week. Both handled differently and offering two very different expressions, this Wickhams Road Riesling has beaten its counterpart to the bottling line.
This sees 10 hours skin contact, tight green apple coils itself around the mouth. Three grams of residual sugar remain with a clean acidity armed to cut through tempura prawns and fish bites. Deliciously textural, river stones drive a minerally vibe. Very moreish. Big love!
Drink now.
