The leafy backbone of Cabernet Franc lurches forward and doesn't hold back with this Limited Release from Wynns Coonawarra Estate.
Dried herbs, Bay leaf and a suggestion of tree bark make the first impression on opening. Very savoury, it's earthy with tilled black soil characteristics along with cigar box and char. Those herbs just keep washing through, gently caressing the palate. Blackberries and licorice are very much secondary. It feels tight and firmly woven for now and I suspect it will evolve better with five+ years under its belt. And knowing the ageing pedigree of Wynns wines, you can cellar this with confidence.
