There is an endearing persona about this Block 3 Pinot Noir from Colmar Estate. From the cool climes of Orange, I enjoyed the savoury presence that is on offer.
One skins for 21 days and French oak puncheons for 10 months, firmish spices are a bit of a theme the longer it sits. Strawberries, rhubarb, blood orange, pine needles and drops of dark chocolate keep the spotlight with mushroom compost working its way into the frame. Those spices hook back around and drive long with drying dusty tannins clinging to a persistent finish. I enjoyed the previous release much more but this still holds its head high.
