It comes with a neat back story, too, reminiscing about those good times when the family piled into the Ford XF Fairmont Ghia station wagon on their way to Victor Harbor. That same vehicle takes pride of place on the label - nice touch. Malbec seems to be a variety that has evoked plenty of memories for the Goode family and those good times aren't lost on winemaker Anita Goode.
Evocative dried purple flowers and violets catapult from the glass. Fresh mulberries and mulberry compote consume the mouth. Saturated in purple fruit, red currants and licorice tuck in behind. The suggestion of choc dipped raspberries wriggles forward with time in the glass but what has me fixated is the tannin structure. Superfine and delicately scattered about and almost powder-like, they have a dusty and iron filing presence and seemingly float about. A wine that urges contemplation and large pours all at the same time, this is a beauty.
Drink to five years.
